“Frailty in the Sunshine” bronze edition of 9

This piece came to me one evening when the sun was low in the sky lighting up the trees with a warm glow and throwing long shadows. The way light falls on surfaces is something I have always appreciated even before I was a commissioned photographer. Light is by its nature essential to life itself.

The philosophy behind this piece is my belief that deterioration through age brings change, but this process I like to view as something interesting and can be extremely beautiful.

The frail old man may show the effect of time on his physical form but he is shown warming his hands towards the sunshine. Anyone who has experienced this process will understand the sense of joy!
